Giving through your IRA | Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
If you are 70½ or older, making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA is a smart and meaningful way to give. When your gift is made directly from your IRA to Ellis Medicine, the amount is not counted as taxable income, which can reduce your overall tax burden.
If you are 73 or older, your QCD can also satisfy part or all of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year. Most importantly, your gift has an immediate impact on the care and support Ellis provides to patients and families every day. Download instructions and a sample letter to request your QCD.
Gifts of real estate are accepted at the discretion of the Foundation Board. While outright, unencumbered property is preferred, bargain sales—where property is sold for less than its fair market value—may be considered when aligned with the Foundation’s best interests.
Real estate gifts are recognized based on the property’s appraised value at the time of transfer, minus any outstanding debts or obligations.
